GnS Council of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has the privilege to embrace the world’s fastest racquet sport, ‘Badminton’. This sporting facility is popular among the entire campus community. Badminton stimulates concentrated actions like jumping, running, stretching, twisting, throwing, moving back and forth, and striking. This game at IIT Kanpur aims to provide solace to the mind and body while fortifying overall well-being

At IIT Kanpur, five wooden courts are built to encourage enthusiasts across the campus. New SAC (Student Activity Center) has three courts, while the old SAC has two to elevate the zeal of a shuttlecock player. Old and new SAC provides basic amenities like rackets, shuttles, and non-marking shoes against the ID card of a participant. Besides this, almost all residence halls have outdoor Badminton courts for routine practices. 

Team Badminton at IIT Kanpur helps build the self-confidence of a candidate by engaging in various championships and competitions. IIT Kanpur students engage in the art of Badminton, crafting a symphony of agility and focus, orchestrating a harmonious balance between academic rigors and vibrant health. Warming up with an 800m jog in the athletics field, playing matches, and stroke practices are the regular sessions to reduce stress and anxiety of campus residents. For a student, Badminton amplifies strategic thinking ability, flexibility, motor skills, and mental resilience. Entailing Badminton as a spirited sporting activity instills camaraderie among students. 

The Badminton realm at IIT Kanpur glistens with a constellation of accolades, including the illustrious 'Silver Medal secured by the Girls Team at Inter IIT 2019,' a resplendent 'Golden Triumph by the Girls Team and Silver Glory by the Boys Team at Udghosh 2019,' and the gleaming 'Bronze Medal achievement at the prestigious Sportech 2019'.
