Entrepreneurship with IITK
In collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), IIT Kanpur established the SIDBI Innovation & Incubation Centre (SIIC) with the aim of promoting innovation, research, and entrepreneurial endeavors in technology-focused domains.
Established in 2000 with the vision of transforming knowledge into wealth, the centre has a twofold vision:
- To create a generation of zealous entrepreneurs.
- To convert novel research into valuable intellectual property.
SIIC serves as a central hub for all aspects concerning innovation, incubation, entrepreneurship, tech-nology transfer, and commercialization at IIT Kanpur. Since its establishment, SIIC has successfully incubated and guided 53 companies, out of which 26 have already completed their incubation jour-ney. In recognition of its accomplishments, SIIC received the prestigious National Award for Technol-ogy Business Incubators in 2011.
The institute's commitment to fostering innovation, providing robust support systems, and integrat-ing entrepreneurship into its ecosystem has resulted in the creation of numerous successful startups. Through its continued focus on nurturing entrepreneurial talent, IIT Kanpur is not only contributing to the economic growth of the nation but also inspiring a new generation of innovators and job crea-tors.
