I had very close association with Professor M P Kapoor. I worked with him both the places when he was the Dean of Faculty Affairs and Deputy Director. He was a very loving and caring. Lots of memories between my first meeting with Prof. MP Kapoor in July 1961 when I joined as a student and the last meeting in early May, 2011 at IITK. Just recall the first meeting here. I fell ill the first week on joining IITK at Tilak Nagar Hostel. He was our warden. Thrice in one week he took me in a cycle rickshaw to consult with Dr K K Sikka, IITK consultant at his residence in GSVM Medical College, to medical shops outside to purchase the medicines, back to hostel, ensured I took medicines, and visited me daily in PM to enquire my welfare. what a Warden! His contributions to higher education in India in general and for decades to IITK in particular are legendry. My batchmates, 2nd batch of IITK, are equally shell shocked at his demise. e all pray for peace for his devout soul.

I am shocked to know about the sad demise of Professor M. P. Kapoor. I consider myself fortunate to have work under his leadership when he was Director of erstwhile Thapar Institute of Engg. & Technology, Now Thapar University Patiala and Director of Thapar Corporate Research & Development, Patiala. He was a dynamic leader, a tough administrator but a soft person at the core. He always worked with strong comitment for the profession. Above all, he was a great motivator and a great mentor. His death is a personal loss to me. I feel with the death of Professor Kapoor, India has lost a visionary and an able administrator of Technical Education. I pray the almighty to provide rest to the departed soul and give the strength to the bereaved family to bear this tragic loss.

We lost an esteemed colleague and a warm friend. May his soul rest in peace and pray God to give solace to his family.

I knew Professor Kapoor as an excellent person who was ready to help others all the time. I met him last in one of the AICTE Accreditation committee meetings where he served as the Chairman. The IITK Fraternity lost an esteemed colleague and he will always be remembered for his contributions to IIT Kanpur. May his soul rest in peace. When I joined IITK, Prof. M.P. Kapoor was the Deputy Director. I found him as a mentor for many young faculty members. He often used to provide candid feedback to the junior faculty members on their performance. He used to reinforce the message that teaching performance was actual reputation of a faculty member across the Institute. Some of us were very enthusiastic about setting up our research laboratories. The country was undergoing recession. There was a slowdown in economic activity everywhere. Funds were very limited. Understandably his resources were limited too. Even then Prof. Kapoor tried to help many of us by all possible means. He also encouraged us to sit-in at the lecture classes of the core courses led by more experienced faculty members. A great leader indeed! IITK has lost a valuable jewel from its crown.

I was really shocked to know this sad news. Prof. Kapoor was a very seasoned administrator and a good human being as well. I learned many things from him in my initial days of joining IIT Kanpur. May God bless peace to his soul in the heaven. Subhash Pandey. ***************

We are sad to hear about the passing away of Professor M P Kapoor. Besides being a contemporary in the Institute, he was our neighbour on the 22nd st, Old Type 4, and remember the kind help received from him.He was a vibrant, and helpful community man, and was dedicated to the Institute in every responsibility he undertook. Prof. Kapoor was a warm hearted and friendly individual who contributed enormously to the development of technical education in the country in general and to IIT Kanpur in particular. He was always excited about new developments in research. My recent interaction with him was during the REACH-2010 symposium. His enthusiasm towards research was palpable. He attended every session and participated in the deliberations. I and my wife express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

I neither got a chance ever to be his student nor the one who has worked with him. What I have noticed is that he has made my alma mator Thapar Institute of Engg & Tech, Patiala in Punjab a force to reckon with. He was a tough task master and an untiring force. More the opposition more stronger he used to become. His death has given an irreparable loss to all those who at one time or the other have remained associated with him. I am very sad to hear this news that we have lost such a lively, intelligent and very able administator. He was always full of energy & enthusism and ready to take on to any problem or any challenge. I am just shocked to hear about the sudden and sad departure of one of the most respected leader Prof M P Kapoor, our Kapoor sir. He has been a magnanimous source of encouragement and a true confidence builder, great visionary and researcher, and a highly capable administrator.
