Prof. M.V. George passed away on 8th December, 2019, at Thiruvananthapuram. Prof. George joined the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur in 1963 and he served the Institute till his retirement in 1988. In 1988, Professor George moved to the Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Trivandrum (now known as NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram). He was also a Visiting Professor for varying periods of time at the Radiation Laboratory of the University of Notre Dame (USA) between 1978 and 2001. He was the Head of the Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur, during 1966-69.

Prof. M.V. George breathed his last on Sunday night (December 08, 2019) at Asha Care Homes, Thiruvananthapuram. We will remain grateful to him forever for his immense contributions to the Institute. May his soul rest in peace.
