Course Contents
Introd. Hamilton’s principles, Lagrange’s eqn, Eigen value problem (EVP), discrete & continuous system. Boundary value problem formulation. General EVP, positive definite system, self ad-joint property. Vibration of strings, rods, beams, membranes and plates. Raleigh’s quotient. Integral formulation of EVP, natural modes of vibration, approximate methods. Response to excitation.
